Women's Leadership Forum
A half-day forum "Strategies for Women in Male-Dominated Fields" will be held Thursday, September 16, 2010. Break-out sessions and panel discussions will address the challenges of being a woman in the male-dominated industries of construction, engineering, architecture and others. Health Care Reform Contains Increased Paperwork for Businesses
A provision contained in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will significantly increase the amount of paperwork businesses will have to file with the Internal Revenue Service. Begininning in 2012, businesses will have to file a Form 1099 to ALL vendors, both incorporated and unincorporated, to which they pay more than $600 annually for goods and services. This is a shift from current law that requires a Form 1099 to be filed for only services from an unincorporated vendor for which the cost annually totals $600 or more.

ABC NM has signed onto a letter from ABC National sent to Congress on May 13th supporting the Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act (HR 5141) which will repeal the provisions in the PPACA that require increased reporting.

Union Bannering
Has your jobsite been the target of union bannering? What can you do? ABC NM developed a brochure entitled "Dealing with Union Bannering" which addresses the tactics used by unions to misrepresent merit shop contractors along with a concise explanation of the issue and the facts. Brochures are available at the ABC office or you may download a copy from the website by going to "Publications."
